Having closed 2021 on a strong positive note, advertising volumes for television continued to stay stable in the first quarter of 2022 with a total of 443 million seconds across all channels. In comparison to the previous 2 years, Q1 2022 was almost at par with Q1 2021 and Q1 2022 registered a 20% increase in Ad Volumes over Q1 2020. March 2022 also registered the highest Ad Volumes for the year with 154 million seconds, according to a BARC report.

In the South channel category in Week 16 of BARC data, the positions in the chart remained unchanged compared to last week. Sun TV maintained its top position with 2283.1 (000) AMA, followed by Star Maa in second place with 2118.42 (000) AMA. Star Vijay remained in third place with 1604.15 (000) AMA, followed by Zee Telugu in fourth place with 1352.1 AMA and Zee Kannada in fifth place with 1299.08 (000) AMA.

In Week 16 of the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India Data Report, Star Sports 1 Hindi bagged the top spot with 2474.31 (000) AMA in the across genre category. Sun TV slipped one spot down and stood at the second position with 2291.11 (000) AMA. Star Maa retained its 3rd spot with 2160.22 (000) AMA, followed by Star Plus in the 4th spot with 2052.17 (000) AMA. Dangal shifted one spot up and claimed the 5th spot with 1713.94 (000) AMA. Star Vijay dropped one spot to sixth place with 1608.45 (000) AMA.Sony Sab retained its 7th spot with a 1523.67 (000) AMA. Colors was the new entrant in the chart with 1426.84 (000) AMA and claimed the 8th spot. Star Pravah dropped one spot down and stood at 9th position with 1424.58 (000) AMA. Zee Telugu dropped one spot down and stood at the 10th spot with 1374.61 (000) AMA as compared to last week.

Viacom18 today announced the launch of Sports18 Khel, its Free-To-Air (FTA) Hindi channel, available on Prasar Bharati’s DTH service DD FreeDish. The announcement follows closely on the heels of the launch of its pay-TV channel Sports18.

Disney Star India is planning to launch two new Odia channels in June. The network informed all distributors of television channels (DPOs) that the channels-Star Kirano and Star Kirano HD will go live on June 1, 2022.
