• MIB directs MSOs to furnish network details by Nov 25

    The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has directed multi-system operators (MSOs) to get themselves registered on the Digital India MIB website and furnish information pertaining to the headend, conditional access system (CAS), and set-top box (STB) seeding data.

    According to Chrome LIVE Week 44’22 data, Hindi News genre became the top gainer of the week as it grew by 0.91pc in HSM excluding <1 lakh market. DD News garnered the highest OTS with 99.9pc followed by India TV and ABP News with 99.8pc at second and third position respectively.

    Music genre claimed the second position and grew by 0.63pc in HSM excluding <1 lakh market. MTV Beats gained the highest OTS with 92.1pc followed by Mastiii at second position with 90.6pc and 9X M with 83.0pc at third position.

    English News genre stood at third position by gaining 0.22pc in 6 Metros. Republic TV gained the highest OTS with 99.7pc followed by Sansad TV with 98.5pc at second position and CNN News 18 with 82.3pc at the third position.

  • Pachai Media to relaunch Bhojpuri GEC ‘Mahuaa’ in 2023

    Mahuaa TV, a former well-known Bhojpuri general entertainment channel, is scheduled to relaunch next year.

    Pachai Media is planning to relaunch the brand Mahuaa by early next year (January’2023). As per it, firstly, brand Mahuaa will be launched digitally and after few months it will be available on satellite also.

    BARC India released its Week 42 data for South GEC markets including Tamil, Kannada, Telugu and Malayalam. The positions in the top five list changed for Kannada GEC market.

    According to the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India Data Report, Sun TV continued its lead with 2377.64 (000) AMA in the across genre category followed by Star Plus at 2nd position with 2308.93 (000) AMA. Goldmines moved one spot up and claimed the 3rd position with 2297.18 (000) AMA. Star Maa slipped one spot down and stood at 4th position with 2267.04 (000) AMA. Dangal retained its 5th spot with 2140.51 (000) AMA followed by Colors at 6th spot with 1697.9 (000) AMA. Star Pravah moved one spot up and claimed the 7th position with 1616.71 (000) AMA. Star Vijay slipped one spot down and stood at 8th position with 1509.54 (000) AMA. Zee TV retained its 9th spot with 1500.5 (000) AMA followed by Sony Sab at 10th spot with 1468.38 (000) AMA.
  • BARC 39-42: News18 India leads Hindi news genre with 15.9 pc share

    According to BARC data (Market Share pc 24hrs TG:15+, India, Week 39-42’22, All Day), News18 India retained its leadership with 15.9 pc share, followed by TV9 Bharatvarsh at 13.6 pc, India TV and Aaj Tak both accounting for 12.3 pc each.

    Religious genre claimed the second position and grew by 0.28 pc in HSM excluding <1 lakh market. Sanskar gained the highest OTS with 99.8 pc followed by Aastha with 98.5 pc at second position and Zee Salaam with 90.5 pc at third position.

    Infotainment genre stood at third position by gaining 0.09 pc in All India 1 Lakh+ market. History TV18 secured the highest OTS with 88.7 pc followed by Animal Planet with 85.8 pc at second position and Discovery with 85.5 pc at the third position.

    Youth genre secured the fourth position by gaining 0.09 pc in HSM excluding <1 lakh market. In this genre, Zing gained the highest OTS with 89.1 pc followed by MTV with 88.8 pc at second position and Zoom with 86.8 pc at the third position.

    According to Chrome LIVE Week 40’22 data, Religious genre became the top gainer of the week as it grew by 0.17 pc in HSM excluding <1 lakh market. Sanskar garnered the highest OTS with 99.8 pc followed by Aastha with 98.5 pc at second position and Zee Salaam with 90.5 pc at the third position.

    Youth genre secured the second position and grew by 0.09 pc in HSM excluding <1 lakh market. In this genre, Zing gained the highest OTS with 89.0 pc followed by MTV with 88.7 pc at second positions and Zoom with 86.6 pc at the third position.

    Sports genre stood at third position by gaining 0.07 pc in All India 1 Lakh+ market. DD Sports gained the highest OTS with 99.1 pc followed by Star Sports First with 83.3 pc at second position and Star Sports 2 at third position with 81.1 pc.

    Kids genre stood at fourth position and grew by 0.05 pc in All India 1 Lakh+ market. Sony YAY! garnered the highest OTS with 90.7 pc followed by Discovery Kids with 82.9 pc at the second position and Nickelodeon Junior with 82.2 pc at the third position.

  • BARC WK 37-40: News18 India outperforms GECs in terms of reach

    As per BARC data, News18 India has outperformed top general entertainment channels  with a cumulative reach of 8.7 crore (BARC; Cume reach ‘000: HSM; All 15+; Avg. Wk 37-40’22). 

    According to BARC data, the cumulative reach of STAR Plus stood at 7.6 crore, whereas the cumulative reach of Sony and Zee Tv stood at 6.56 crore and 6.52 crore respectively.

    Infotainment genre claimed the second position by gaining 1.41 pc in All India 1 Lakh+ market. History TV18 secured the highest OTS with 88.7 pc followed by Animal Planet with 85.7 pc at second position and Discovery with 85.4 pc at the third position.

    Sports genre secured the third position by gaining 1.38 pc in All India 1 Lakh+ market. DD Sports gained the highest OTS with 99.1 pc followed by Star Sports First with 83.3 pc at second position and Star Sports 2 at third position with 81.0 pc.
