Prasar Bharati has raked in Rs 645 crore from the allotment of 59 MPEG-2 slots on its free direct to home (DTH) platform DD Free Dish in the recently concluded 58th annual e-auction, industry sources have informed exchange4media. In the previous e-auction, the pubcaster had raked in Rs 731.34 crore from sale of 57 MPEG-2 slots of DD Free Dish.

Prasar Bharati is holding an e-auction for MPEG-2 slots on DD Free Dish on a pro-rata basis for a period of one year. The 59th e-auction will be tentatively held on March 22.

New Delhi: On the fourth day of the ongoing e-auctions for DD Freedish, the average bidding price has descended below Rs 8 Crore.
The Hindi news channel Aaj Tak which claimed the slot for Rs 15.35 Crore in 2021 has bagged the slot at Rs 7.60 Crore.
TV9 Bharatvarsh picked up the slot at Rs 8.05 crore. Last year, the channel had paid Rs 18.15 crore to claim a slot.

On the fourth day of the e-auctions for DD Freedish, the average bidding price has come down below Rs 8 crore in the second round of bidding which started Friday morning. The average price paid by news channels in the first round held on Wednesday was 9.95 crore.

48 channels across six categories - spiritual, GEC, movies, music, news and regional, have bagged a slot each at the e-auctions for MPEG-2 slots on DD Freedish in three days. Until now, Prasar Bharati has pocketed Rs 567 crore from the auctions.
