• AajTak tops Hindi news Pay TV Channels chart with 89.69pc OTS: Report

    According to data from Chrome DM (Source: Chrome Track 2.0, Mkt-All India Urban, C&S Base-69.21Mn Mn Week-04′ 2023), AajTak has topped the Pay TV Channels chart with 89.69pc OTS. Zee News sealed the second spot with 85.30pc, followed by Zee Hindustan at 84.92pc. News 18 India came in fourth place with 78.89pc and NDTV at 5th place with 72.68pc.

    According to Chrome LIVE Week 3’23 data, Hindi Movies genre became the top gainer of the week as it grew by 0.06pc in HSM excluding <1 lakh market. Sony Wah garnered the highest OTS with 93.6pc followed by Zee Anmol Cinema with 93.5pc at second position and Star Utsav Movies with 92.4pc at third position.

    Sports genre claimed the second position as it grew by 0.04pc in All India 1 Lakh+ market. DD Sports gained the highest OTS with 98.3pc followed by Star Sports First with 83.2pc at second position and Star Sports 2 at third position with 81.2pc.

  • Chrome LIVE Week 2: English News genre emerges as top gainer with 1.82pc growth

    According to Chrome LIVE Week 2’23 data, English News genre became the top gainer of the week as it grew by 1.82pc in 6 Metros. Republic TV garnered the highest OTS with 99.8pc followed by Sansad TV with 98.9pc at second position and CNN News 18 with 82.9pc at the third position.

    Hindi News genre claimed the second position as it grew by 1.07pc in HSM excluding <1 lakh market. India TV gained the highest OTS with 99.9pc followed by ABP News with 99.8pc at second position and News Nation with 99.2pc at third position.

    Music genre secured the third position by gaining 0.14pc in HSM excluding <1 lakh market. MTV Beats gained the highest OTS with 92.7pc followed by Mastiii at second position with 92.2pc and 9X M with 85.8pc at third position.

  • Two new MSOs granted licence by MIB

    The Multi-System Operators (MSOs) were granted two new licences by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) on December 12, 2022.

    The two new MSOs were M/s SLJ Fiber Networks Pvt. Ltd and M/s Deepanshu Cable Network.

    The total number of registered MSOs now stands at 1,748 as on 31st December 2022.

    MIB also cancelled two MSO licences that were surrendered by M/s Digi Space Network Pvt. Ltd on 27.12.2022 and M/s Mahalaxmi Cable Network on 29.12.2022.

    According to Chrome LIVE Week 52’22 data, Sports genre became the top gainer of the week as it grew by 0.09pc in All India 1 Lakh+ market. DD Sports garnered the highest OTS with 98.8pc followed by Star Sports First with 83.3pc at second position and Star Sports 2 at third position with 81.3pc.

    Religious genre claimed the second position and grew by 0.06pc in HSM excluding <1 lakh market. Sanskar gained the highest OTS with 99.7pc followed by Aastha with 98.0pc at second position and Jinvani with 90.6pc at third position.

    Music genre stood at third position by gaining 0.04pc in HSM excluding <1 lakh market. MTV Beats gained the highest OTS with 92.8pc followed by Mastiii at second position with 92.3pc and 9X M with 86.0pc at third position.

  • BARC WK 52: News18 India retains leadership with 15.7pc market share

    According to BARC data (BARC; market share% 24 hrs, TG: 15+, HSM, Wk 52’22, All days) , News18 India is ahead of other Hindi news channels such as Aaj Tak, India TV, TV9 Bharatvarsh, and Republic Bharat with a market share of 15.7%.

    The market share of Aaj Tak stood at 13.63%, whereas the market share of India TV is at 13.60%, TV9 Bharatvarsh stood at 12.9%, and Republic Bharat is at 11.6%.

    According to BARC ratings (BARC; market share% 1800- 2400 hrs, TG: 15+, HSM, Wk 52’22, All days), News18 India has a 16.3% market share, and is followed by TV9 Bharatvarsh and India TV, at 13.7% and 13.6% viewership share, respectively.

  • MIB grants licences to two new MSOs

    The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) granted two new licenses to Multi-System Operators (MSOs) between November 30, 2022- December 31, 2022. The total number of registered MSOs stands at 1,748 as of December 31, 2022. 

    SLJ Fiber Networks Pvt. Ltd and Deepanshu Cable Network were the two MSOs granted licences on December 12, 2022.

    According to Chrome LIVE Week 51’22 data, Business News genre became the top gainer of the week as it grew by 0.47pc in 6 Metros. CNBC TV18 gained the highest OTS with 81.0pc followed by CNBC Awaaz with 76.0pc at second position and ET Now with 74.5pc at third position.

    Infotainment genre claimed the second position as it grew by 0.10pc in All India 1 Lakh+ market. History TV18 gained the highest OTS with 89.0pc followed by Animal Planet with 87.2pc at second position and Discovery with 87.0pc at the third position.

    Hindi Movies genre stood at third position by gaining 0.05pc in HSM excluding <1 lakh market. Sony Wah gained the highest OTS with 93.7pc followed by Zee Anmol Cinema with 93.0pc at second position and Star Utsav Movies with 92.8pc at third position.

  • BARC WK 51: News18 India stays ahead of competition with 15.6pc market share

    According to the BARC data, News18 India has remained the leading Hindi news channel in viewership and reach since May 2022. The ratings for the genre were resumed in March 2022.

    As per BARC data, News18 India has outperformed top news channels such as India TV, Aaj Tak, TV9 Bharatvarsh and Republic Bharat with a market share of 15.6% (BARC; market share% 24 hrs, TG: 15+, HSM, Wk 51’22, All days).
