  • Indian OTT video market to generate Rs 5595 cr rev by 2022 driven by SVoD services: PwC

    MUMBAI: The Indian over the top (OTT) video is expected to move into the top ten global OTT video markets in 2022 with revenue of Rs 5595 crore registering a growth of 22.6% CAGR, according to PwC’s Global Entertainment & Media Outlook 2018-2022 (Outlook)

    The report further stated that the OTT video market has grown rapidly in recent years to reach Rs 2019 crore in 2017.

    The growing competition among international and regional Subscription on Demand Video (SVOD) platforms is evident with over 70% of revenue in 2017 attributable to subscription services. This trend will grow and by 2022, 79.4% of total market revenue is expected to be from SVOD.

  • TV18’s new initiative loss narrows to Rs 45 cr in FY18 due to fewer launches

    MUMBAI: With no major launch taking place, TV18’s new initiative losses in FY18 was Rs 45 crore. This is a huge decline from the new initiative loss of Rs 366 crore that the company incurred in FY17.

    In FY18, TV18’s major launch was in the entertainment space. The company launched regional GEC Colors Tamil in February. In national news space, no new channels were launched.

    The company defines the new initiative losses as the operating losses of any major new launch or project which is declared for a period of four quarters from the launch at an aggregate entity level.
