With TV news viewership data all set to make a comeback after a 15-month hiatus, the competition for MPEG-2 slots on DD Free Dish, Prasar Bharati's free Direct To Home (DTH) platform, is expected to heat up. While the e-auction for vacant MPEG-2 slots is slated to begin on 7th March, the news channel ratings will resume on 17th March.

India’s second-largest pay DTH player Airtel has started the commercial roll-out of viewership data using Return Path Data (RPD) coming through its 8-10 lakh Xstream set-top boxes.
Overall, Airtel has around 18 million subscribers across the country but the DTH player is using the data collected from only 8-10 lakh subscribers of its high-end service Airtel Xstream.

TV Today Network's revenue from operations has jumped 15.12% to Rs 257.91 crore for the quarter ended 31st December 2021 as against Rs 224.02 crore in the last quarter. Total expenses jumped 17.11% to Rs 184.25 crore from Rs 157.32 crore. The company's net profit has risen 12.22% to Rs 61.50 crore from Rs 54.8 crore.
