BENGALURU: Pubcaster Doordarshan’s English news channel DD India continued at its number one position in Broadcast Audience Research Council of India’s (BARC) weekly list of top 5 English news channels for week 14 of 2019 (Saturday, 30 March 2019 to Friday, 5 April 2019, week under consideration or review). Since its entry in the BARC data fold, DD India has upset the cart for the other players. In week 3 and 4 of 2019, DD India was ranked second, just behind Republic TV. In week 5 of 2019, DD India was the most watched English news channel as per BARC data. BARC had stopped publishing data in the public domain after week 5 of 2019 to let the viewership stabilise after the commencement of the new tariff regime.

GOA: Day 2 of Goafest 2019 culminated with winners across five categories - broadcaster, design specialist, direct specialist, PR specialist agency and still craft - of the Creative Abbys being declared. Sony Pictures Networks India was crowned Broadcaster of the Year, winning nine metals on the night. SPN’s haul comprised of a gold, three silvers and five bronze. SPN bagged the only gold in the category for Sony Ten 2's 'Meri Doosri Country' campaign for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

MUMBAI: Google’s recently launched music streaming platform YouTube Music has surpassed its opponent Spotify by registering more downloads within a week of the launch.
Spotify, which launched in India a few weeks ago, claimed over a million users subscribed to its service within a week of its launch, while YouTube registered over 3 million downloads in the first week, according to the reports.

MUMBAI: After the
new tariff orderimplementation, television viewership in India has dipped due to ongoing disruption in the cable and broadcasting ecosystem. Zee News reported that as per CSLA the viewership of the top five broadcasters reduced to 78 per cent from almost 90 per cent earlier.

MUMBAI: Dating app Tinder has leapfrogged video streaming platform Netflix in Q1 2019 as the highest-earning non-gaming app.
According to reports, Netflix revenues dropped 15 per cent since the last quarter to reach $216.3 million, while the Tinder app grossed $260.7 million from Google Play Store and Apple App Store and its q-o-q revenues grew by 42 per cent.

Nearly a month after quiting Zee News, Mehraj Dube has joined ABP News as the Head of Marketing. The news has been confirmed by an ABP spokesperson.
At Zee News, Dube was Vice President-Programming. Dube joined Zee in June 2016 as Vice President, Marketing. He was given the role of Vice President - Programming in January this year. In this role, he had been mandated to build a content creation and acquisition unit for Zee Media's 14 news channels.

In the second week of IPL and BARC week 14 (Saturday, 30 March 2019 to Friday, 5 April 2019, week under review), it was only inevitable that a channel featuring this bonanza became the most watched channel based on BARC’s weekly ratings of top 10 channels across genres. From the time Star India won rights to air this franchise, Star Sports 1 Hindi has been among the most viewed channels when this contest was on air – whether live or repeat telecast of current matches. IPL 2019 was no exception, and Star Sports 1 Hindi quickly rose to first place in week 14 of 2019 from second rank in week 13 of 2019.
