• News channel viewership soars on account of Indo-Pak tensions

    The viewership of news channels surpassed that of general entertainment channels on the day IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman returned to India from Pakistan on March 1.  

    According to BARC data, on March 1 in the TG 2+ category the gross impression in 000s for Aaj Tak was 1,58,963 and that of Sun TV was 1,22,223.  ABP clocked 1,10,265 impressions followed by India TV at 87,487.

  • ABP News Network receives four TV channel licences from MIB

    MUMBAI: News broadcaster ABP News Network has got four new TV channel licences from the ministry of information and broadcasting (MIB) in February.

    The company has received uplinking and downlinking licences under the names ABP Andhra, ABP Ganga, ABP Kannada, and ABP Tamil. One of the licences could be used to launch an Uttar Pradesh centric news channel that the company is planning to launch.

  • ACT Fibernet partners with Netflix

    MUMBAI: Broadband service provider ACT Fibernet has entered into a partnership with streaming giant Netflix. Under the partnership, "Entertainment" plan users of ACT Fibernet would be able to pay for their monthly Netflix subscription through their ACT Fibernet bill with an assured cashback of up to Rs 350 per month. The offer will be available for ACT Fibernet customers Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad in the beginning.

Amongst the four south Indian languages spoken in six states, Malayalis’ (Denizens of Kerala, language Malayalam) consumed more news per household (HH) and per capita on the top 5 Malayama News channels than their South Indian brethren in 2018.
