  • Jio TV, Vh1 to broadcast second leg of semi-finals of Copa Del Rey

    MUMBAI: Reliance Jio-owned over the top (OTT) service Jio TV and Viacom18’s English music channel Vh1 have come together to broadcast the second leg of semi-final matches of Copa Del Rey. Barcelona will face-off against Real Madrid while Valencia will take-on Real Betis in the second-leg of the semi-final of the Copa Del Rey.

    MUMBAI: The News Broadcasting Standards Authority (NBSA) has imposed a fine on Hindi news channels ABP News and Aaj Tak for violating code of ethics. In another case, the authority has rejected a complaint against NDTV 24×7 regarding a sting operation carried out in August 2014.

The company has now stepped up its new media segment which is almost 30 per cent of the overall business with the launch of Shemaroo Me. Shemaroo is taking a slow but steady approach and does not intend to go head-to-head with giants like Amazon and Netflix.

  • Star India expenses up, profit plunged in FY18

    MUMBAI: Star India witnessed a nosedive of 93 per cent in profit at Rs 287 crore during FY18 as compared to Rs 554 crore during FY17. This was apparently due to higher programming costs, which went up from Rs 4,121.6 crore in FY17 to Rs 4,887.3 crore during FY18, according to a report by Economic Times quoting business intelligence platform, Tofler.

  • Ratings on site: BARC consults stakeholders, broadcasters say it doesn't make a difference

    Two days after the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) directed BARC India to publish the viewership data of past weeks on its website immediately, BARC has responded saying that they are “taking a considered view on that post consultation with stakeholders.”
