• Kedar Teny, head of marketing and OAP - sports, SPNI, Quits

    Kedar Teny, head of marketing and OAP - sports, Sony Pictures Networks India has quit the company, confirm industry sources. Teny joined the network in June 2017.

    Prior to joining SPNI, Teny worked with McDonalds India as director marketing and digital. Before that, he worked with Hindustan Unilever as category head - deodorants. In the past, Teny has also worked with Bharti Airtel, Lowe and Partners Worldwide and iB&W Communications.

  • DEN bets on HD, 4K internet boxes as next big ARPU growth drivers

    MUMBAI: Cable TV and broadband service provider DEN Networks is betting big on high (HD) and ultra high definition (HD) or 4K Android set top boxes (STBs) as the new growth drivers.

    While subscription revenue in the digital addressable system (DAS) Phase 3 and 4 markets have been on an upswing, the company feels that it needs to invest in high-end technologies like HD and 4K hybrid STBs to move the average revenue per user (ARPU) up.

  • Sun TV Network, others publish RIO with MRP, bouquet rates of channels

    MUMBAI: After ZEEL, Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) and TV18, other broadcasters have also unveiled their maximum retail price (MRP) and bouquet rates of their channels under the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) new tariff order.

    Sun TV Network, Bennett Coleman and Company Ltd (BCCL), Turner International India, and Disney Broadcasting India have also published their new reference interconnect offer (RIO) documents which will be effective from 29 December 2018. Discovery Communications India is yet to unveil the MRP and bouquet rates.

  • Tata Sky to launch Tamil movie service on 11 Sep

    MUMBAI: Direct to home (DTH) operator Tata Sky is all set to launch its fifth regional movie service in Tamil called Tata Sky Tamil Cinema. The service slated to launch on 11 September will be priced at Rs. 45 per month.

    Tata Sky Tamil Cinema will be available on channel number 1502. Customers will get 5 days free trial offer after which this service would be charged at regular price.
