• Rattled Republic ducks all questions but threatens entire media

    Republic Media Network on Sunday issued threats to media houses reporting on the ongoing TRP probe and the purported WhatsApp chats between Republic's Founder and Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami and former BARC India CEO Partho Dasgupta.

    Republic had earlier responded to questions raised by Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi, after it came to light that Goswami regularly shared sensitive information with Dasgupta in WhatsApp chats.

    It is important to note that Republic and Goswami have never denied the content of the chats. On the contrary, the latest statement by Republic has quoted these chats several times.

  • News18 to telecast Mission Paani Waterthon, a daylong event to raise awareness about water crisis

    Mumbai: Launched in 2019, Mission Paani, an initiative by News18 and Harpic India has over the past two years put their best foot forward in sensitizing people about water conservation and hygiene. Bringing the campaign to a grand culmination with its Mission Paani Waterthon on January 26, the day shall witness India and its people come together for Water Power.   • Prasar Bharati inks content hosting agreement with Novi Digital

    Prasar Bharati has signed and exchanged Content Hosting Agreement with Novi Digital Entertainment for the telecast of DD India Channel on Hotstar in the UK, USA, and Canada, effective from 22nd January.

    To watch DD India on Hotstar, one has to search for DD India under the ‘search’ option in the Channels category. The arrangement with Hotstar is part of the efforts to develop an international audience for Doordarshan and to create a global voice for India.

    "As a step towards expanding global footprint of DD & to engage younger digitally savvy South Asian audiences in UK, US & Canada, Prasar Bharati is happy to announce the launch of DD India on Hotstar in these countries," Prasar Bharati said in a tweet.
  • DTH gains 1 lakh subscribers, Tata Sky extends market share

    KOLKATA: The DTH sector has added 120,000 new users in July-September quarter to reach the total active subscriber base of 70.70 million. Leading player Tata Sky beat out competitors to once again emerge as the most favoured brand, while also extending its market share to 32.58 per cent from 32.09 per cent in the previous quarter.

    The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) released ‘The Indian Telecom Services Performance Indicators’ report for the quarter ended 30 September 2020. Among other players, Dish TV gave up some of its market share to settle at 27 per cent at the end of Q2 FY21. Airtel Digital TV and Sun Direct are third and fourth on the list, controlling 24.59 per cent and 15.83 per cent of the market respectively.

  • Times Network to drag BARC India to court in TRP scam

    The owners of English news channel Times Now, which was affected by the alleged manipulations of viewership numbers, said they are contemplating legal actions against the rating agency BARC India and accused the present Management and Board of inaction in the matter.

    Bennett Coleman & Company Ltd. (BCCL) is a subscriber of viewership data from Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC), for its Channels including "Times Now" operating under Times Network.

    A press statement from Times Network said, “Since 2017 and specially after the launch of Republic TV in May 2017, BCCL/ Times Network suspected large scale manipulation of ratings pertaining to illegal usage of multiple LCNs and out of EPG placement by Republic TV. We also found significant abnormalities in Market wise ratings of that channel clearly indicating ground level tampering and/ or deliberate intervention at the raw data level to favour them. Times Network repeatedly complained about these irregularities to BARC for almost 2 years but got no resolution as the complaints routinely resulted in stock replies.

On his way to  Bhimpur Village, Krishna confronts some goons and saves a girl (Mani Bhattacharya). The goon’s leader Rana (Umesh Singh) & Nageshwar (Baleshwar Sing) threaten her family for it. Later, Krishna learns a shocking truth from her grandfather Baldev that Rana is the slayer of his parents and he decides to take revenge on him. Now, how will Krishna deal with their enemies? ‘Farz’ is co-produced by Mehtab Hussain and the story is written by Vishwajit Kumar Singh.

  • Pay DTH active subscriber base jumps to 70.70 million in Jul-Sep quarter: TRAI

    Pay DTH platforms added 120,000 new subscribers to attain a total active subscriber base of around 70.70 million during the quarter ended 30th September, according to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India's (TRAI) The Indian Telecom Services Performance Indicators report for July-September.

    The market share of the four pay DTH players for the July-September quarter is as follows: Tata Sky (32.58%), Dish TV (27%), Bharti Telemedia (24.59%), and Sun Direct (15.83%). Barring Dish TV, all the other players had reported an increase in their market share compared to the trailing quarter.

    In the April-June quarter, the total active subscriber base stood at 70.58 million while the market share of the four DTH operators was as follows: Tata Sky (32.09%), Dish TV (28.67%), Bharti Telemedia (23.83%), and Sun Direct (15.41%).
