• Almost all TV customers have moved to new regime, says TRAI chairman

    MUMBAI: The Telecom Regulator Authority of India (TRAI) chairman RS Sharma has claimed that almost all TV customers have been migrated to the new tariff regime for the TV broadcasting sector.

    Speaking to IANS, Sharma said that “there is around 100 per cent conversion rate” in response to a query about the shift from the old system to the new one.

    The research shows that 9 in 10 people (92%) are aware of the new TRAI tariff order and three in four (76%) have already made alterations to their DTH subscription as per the new guidelines.

    MUMBAI: Sports genre grew in week 12 of Chrome Data Analytics and Media with 3.30 per cent. In the sports genre, DD Sports gained the highest OTS with 90.4 per cent in all India 1L+ market.

    OTS is the actual census-based percentage connectivity of a channel spread across 81 million homes, as reported by Chrome DM, across analogue cable, digital cable and DTH.

  • TRAI tariff order has reduced monthly TV bills: RS Sharma

    MUMBAI: TRAI chairman RS Sharma has said that the implementation of the new tariff scheme has reduced monthly TV bills. This is because people have the power to choose channels of their choice. 
    Speaking to news agency ANI, Sharma said that TRAI is collating data which will demonstrate that monthly bills do not increase. "On average, 90 per cent of people watch less than 50 channels. Even my monthly TV bill has come down from Rs 700 to Rs 236 per month."

    Tata Sky announced the launch of its theatre service, Tata Sky Theatre, powered by Zee Theatre, last year. It brought theatre to television with a monthly subscription of Rs 75. There are also behind-the-scenes footage, interviews and trivia apart from over 100 plays. It is the first ever ad-free service to air plays on television. Now the DTH provider is looking to get regional plays as a part of their offerings followed by short-format content.
  • Dish TV inducts its CEO Anil Dua as additional director

    MUMBAI: Dish TV India board has approved the appointment of CEO Anil Dua’s as an Additional Director of the company in the category of Executive Director. Dua’s appointment is effective from 26th March, 2019 until the conclusion of ensuing Annual General Meeting of the company to be held in the calendar year 2019.

    The company said that the appointment has been done on the basis of the recommendation of Nomination and Remuneration Committee, confirming that Dua is not debarred from holding the office of Director pursuant to any SEBI order or any other such authority.
