ABP News is implementing this step to better utilise its talent, empower their editorial to drive more accountability, and to ensure greater clarity in roles.

    The existing hierarchy within the newsroom is undergoing a makeover. This move will ensure the channel is more audience-centric and responsive towards its consumers.

  • TRAI pulls up DPOs for non-implementation of broadcaster promotional schemes

    MUMBAI: Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has pulled up distribution platform operators (DPOs) for failing to implement the festive promotional schemes offered by the broadcasters.

    The regulator has issued a direction to all DPOs and has asked them to ensure compliance with various provisions of the new regulatory framework for Broadcasting and Cable TV Services.

    The TRAI has directed DPOs to immediately implement the promotional schemes offered by the said broadcasters and modify the Distributor Retail Price (DRP) of the channels.

    It has also asked the DPOs to display the modified DRPs of channels offered under promotional schemes on their website, consumer care channel and electronic programme guide.

    Further, the DPOs have to charge their subscribers, who have subscribed to the channels offered under promotional schemes on a-la-carte basis, the modified DRPs from the date of the offer of such promotional schemes i.e. 15th October 2019;

  • Delhi will host fourth edition of literature festival 'Sahitya Aaj Tak' from November 1-3

    Delhi will be the venue for the fourth edition of 'Sahitya Aaj Tak,' the literature festival that emphasises the importance of literature and art in today's times. The event will see personalities from different fields such as writing, publishing, music, media, business, theatre and cinema.

    Some names that will be a part of the event are Prasoon Joshi, Imtiaz Ali, Anand L. Rai, Prem Chopra, Saurabh Shukla, Kailash Kher, Roohani Sisters, Ravi Kishan, Pankaj Udhas, Irshad Kamil, Ruskin Bond, Pankaj Kapur, Chetan Bhagat and many more.

  • MIB grants 119 new MSO licences between Jan-Oct

    MUMBAI: The ministry of information and broadcasting (MIB) has started the clearing the pending multi-system operator (MSO) applications. Between January-October, the ministry has granted 119 new MSO licences. It had granted just one MSO licence in 2018.

    As on 24th October, the ministry had granted regular registrations to 1586 MSOs to operate anywhere in India. Two MSOs, Arasu Cable TV Corporation and Godfather Communication, have been granted provisional registrations. The number of cancelled registrations/closed applications stands at 74.

  • Sony partners with CABM to organise state-level cricket tournament for blind

    MUMBAI: Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) recently partnered with the Cricket Association for the Blind of Maharashtra (CABM), for the State Level Cricket Tournament for the blind at Islam Gymkhana, Marine Lines in Mumbai.

    Under its umbrella CSR theme ‘Ek India Happywala’, SPNI extends its support and encouragement towards India’s differently-abled and high-spirited sportsmen. SPN draws upon its philosophy of being a responsible organisation, contributing to the well-being of the community. SPNI in conjunction with CABM hosted two tournaments i.e. Women and Men’s state-level matches.

    The tournament witnessed the participation of the six teams of Maharashtra namely, West Maharashtra, Khandesh, Konkan, Marathwada, Vidarbha, and Mumbai. Vidharbha emerged victorious and won both, the women’s and men’s tournaments. The women’s team won by eight wickets, whereas the men’s team won by 61 runs.

  • Vh1 India, Colors Infinity to air round 16 of Carabao Cup

    MUMBAI: Viacom18’s English music and entertainment channels Vh1 India and Colors Infinity will air round 16 games of English Football League’s annual knockout competition Carabao Cup.

    The third round witnessed 32 teams battle it out for progression in the competition, with many scares and surprises as Manchester United needed penalties to overcome Rochdale – a League One team, while Tottenham fell victim to League Two side Colchester United.

    Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Red Devils have a lot to prove as they now face a tough trip to Stamford Bridge where the mighty blues – Chelsea await them. Underrated Premier League contenders – Arsenal take on current leaders – Liverpool at Anfield, while last year’s champions – Manchester City face Southampton in their pursuit of a third consecutive Carabao Cup at home at the Etihad Stadium.

  • TRAI invites EoI for second round of empanelment of DAS auditors

    MUMBAI: Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has invited expression of interest (EoI) for the second round of empanelment of auditors to carry out audit of Digital Addressable Systems (DAS).

    Interested parties will have to submit a complete proposal in a sealed envelope to Praveen Saxena, Senior Research Officer (B&CS), TRAI not later than 3 pm on 29th November 2019 for the second round of empanelment.

    TRAI said it is in process of finalising a Comprehensive Audit Manual. The Audit Manual is proposed as a guidance document for stakeholders and the audit agencies. In case of any discrepancy between the provision of interconnection Regulations, other extant Regulations or Tariff Order and the Audit Manual the provisions as per the regulations/ tariff Orders shall prevail.

  • BARC week 42: Zee Telugu jumps to second position

    MUMBAI: In week 42 of BARC India ratings, Zee Telugu has jumped to second position in the Telugu space. Last week the channel was seen at fourth position. Apart from that regional space witnessed no major changes. The pecking order of channels in Bangla, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada remained unchanged. 

    ETV Telugu and Gemini TV moved one step down to third and fourth positions respectively. Star Maa, Zee Telugu, ETV Telugu, Gemini TV and Star Maa Movies were the top five Telugu channels.

  • BARC week 42: Sony SAB grabs second position in urban market

    MUMBAI: In week 42 of BARC India ratings, Sony SAB grabbed second position in the urban market. The channel has moved up to third position on the pay platform as well. Sony Network's other Hindi GEC Sony Entertainment Television continues to lead in the urban market for the fourth consecutive week. In week 42, Star Plus slipped down to third position in the urban market. 

    In urban market Sony Entertainment Television, Sony SAB, Star PLus, Colors, Zee TV, Dangal, Star Bharat, &TV, Big Magic and Star Utsav were seen at first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth positions respectively.

  • BARC Week 42: SET continues to be most-watched channel in Hindi GEC Urban market

    Ever since Kaun Banega Crorepati 11 started airing, Sony Entertainment Television (SET)  gained momentum on the rating chart and has been in the top spot in the Urban market for weeks together. In BARC week 42, the channel has managed to keep its top position intact with 473631 impressions. In fact, impressions have bettered from the 449691 impressions the channel recorded from week 41.

    Sony SAB has moved up the ladder in the same market, thanks to Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma which is the most-watched show in the Hindi GEC Urban market. The channel has upped its impressions from 392072 in week 41 to 435315 in week 42.

    Star Plus slipped to number three, followed by COLORS, Zee TV, Dangal, Star Bharat, &TV, Big Magic and Star Utsav. As for programs, the second spot went to Zee TV’s Kundali Bhagya, followed by Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Kaun Banega Crorepati and Indian Idol.
