  • Not against 5G, but govt should secure our band: Broadcasters

After two new tariff orders, lockdown-induced losses and an ongoing ratings controversy, broadcasters now feel the pressure of saving the day from 5G interruptions. While broadcasters are not against 5G services, their only apprehension is around potential disruption in satellite television services.

Mostly all C-Band satellites use the band of frequencies between 3.7 GHz and 4.2 GHz for their downlinks. Since most television channels operate between 3.7 GHz and 4.9 GHz, broadcasters fear interruption in signals as spectrum in the range of 3.00 GHz to 3.6 GHz has been identified for 5G usages in the country.
  • Can broadcasters stand tall against lockdown 2.0?

With the second wave of COVID-19 and lockdown imposed in many states of India, businesses are already battening down the hatches for a potential economic crisis. The several sectors in the Media & entertainment industry, including Cinema and Out of Home (OOH), which were yet to recover from last year impact, have been dealt a mighty second blow.

As per the Pitch Madison Advertising report 2021, TV AdEx moved like a yo-yo. The year started poorly with Q1 registering an unusual 13% de-growth over Q1 2019, which then de-grew to 61% in Q2 due to COVID-19. Q3 saw a quick recovery to match the 2019 levels, but then came Q4, which saw an astounding increase of 56%, thanks to the IPL and the festive season.

  • #AajTakSabseTez rolls out new film 'Zara Jhukke'

NEW DELHI: As part of the ongoing viral campaign #AajTakSabseTez, news channel Aaj Tak has launched the fifth film of the series. Titled Zara Jhukke, the film features Chitra Tripathi and throws light on how increasingly many news channels have political leanings and biases. Aaj Tak on the other hand does not need to do that. It believes in straight forward reporting without any political leanings.

Conceptualised and directed by the widely acclaimed writer-director Pradeep Sarkar, #AajTakSabseTez campaign is a satirical take on the current news environment in the country and entertainingly highlights the relaxed standards of reporting by some players in the age of fake news. The first film Sach Ka Band brought to light the exaggeration of events while presenting the news; the second film Achaar Gully highlighted the importance of credibility over sensationalism; the third film Afwaah showed the rampant practice of rumour mongering in news and the fourth film Khabaristan took a dig at resorting to convenient truths. The campaign is already talk of the town as many celebrities including Sania Mirza, Ashutosh Rana, Jwala Gutta, Mika, Harbhajan Singh, Suresh Raina and many more have been tweeting about it.
